Privacy Policy

At the Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cites (hereinafter referred to as “TPO”), we value your personal information, and strictly comply with the Act on the Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. Through our Privacy Policy, we provide information on the purpose and method of using our customers’ personal information, and the measures that are taken for information protection and security. In case of amending our Privacy Policy, we promise to provide you with a notice via our website (or notify you individually).

Personal Information for Collection

TPO collects the following types of personal information for membership registration, consultation, service use, etc.

  • Personal information items: Name, date of birth, sex, user ID, password, password hints (questions and answers), e-mail address, service usage records, access log, cookies, IP address, and payment records
  • Means of personal information collection: Via the website (membership registration process and message board)

Purpose of Collecting and Using Personal Information

TPO uses the collected personal information for the following purposes:

  • the service agreement;
  • confirmation of the identity for the use of the services provided; personal identification;
  • prevention of unlawful uses of the services and unauthorized uses;
  • confirmation of the registration as a member;
  • age confirmation; confirmation of consent provided by a legal guardian in case of collecting the personal information of a minor under the age of 14;
  • determination of the frequency of accessing marketing campaigns and ads and compilation of statistical data on service use.

Personal Information Retention and Usage Period

The personal information is destroyed, without delay, as soon as the purpose of collecting and using personal information become extinct. However, if it is necessary to retain the personal information, due to the provisions of the relevant laws and regulations, TPO will retain the personal information for the time period designated by the relevant laws and regulations, as follows:

  • Retained information: User ID and payment records
  • Basis for retention: Use and Protection of Credit Information Act
  • Retention period: 3 years
  • Records on labeling and advertising: 6 months (Act on the Consumer Protection in the Electronic Commerce Transaction, etc.)
  • Records on the agreement or subscription cancellation: 5 years (Act on the Consumer Protection in the Electronic Commerce Transaction, etc.)
  • Records on payments, supply of goods, etc.: 5 years (Act on the Consumer Protection in the Electronic Commerce Transaction, etc.)
  • Records on consumer complaints or dispute handling: 3 years (Act on the Consumer Protection in the Electronic Commerce Transaction, etc.)
  • Records on collecting, handling and using credit information: 3 years (Use and Protection of Credit Information Act)
