Kuantan
Kuantan is the capital city of Pahang state, located on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia with the administrative area of 2,453 square kilometres. Kuantan has a population of 558,551 with a 3.3% annual growth rate. In recent years, Kuantan has become one of the most growing cities in Malaysia and experiencing rapid changes in physical development. Its major economic activities are industry, trade, commerce and tourism. Kuantan is known for its beaches, waterfalls, ecotourism, heritage, culture, food and urban tourism. Kuantan City Council has a distinct leadership role as the city authority of Kuantan to ensure the city continuously develops, emphasizing on environment and sustainable development for the benefit of the present and future generation. The Council is granted city status on 21 February 2021. It is responsible for town planning and building control, public health and urban service, infrastructure and facilities maintenance, city landscape, community engagement, enforcement and licensing as well as business and tourism development.

The design concept of the tower, with its upright and tapered profile, is inspired by the shape of the traditional Malay spear tips, as found on the Pahang State Coat of Arms. The design of the tower’s viewing deck is inspired by the flowers and leaves of the White Teruntum plant. The project in the heart of Kuantan Waterfront has been completed and operated in early 2021, it have become the latest landmark of the city. It is the tallest tower on the East Coast and the second tallest tower in Malaysia after KL Tower. From the viewing deck 92 meters above ground, visitors can appreciate the grand vistas of the surrounding land and cityscape.

- ZOO HIBRID KUANTAN

Mini Zoo Teruntum emerged as the world's first hybrid zoo. It is developed with a new concept combining elements of living animals and prehistoric animatronic animals such as dinosaurs that adapt industry 4.0 technology, as a hybrid zoo, visitors just not only see local animals live but they have the opportunity to see prehistoric animatronic animals that have become extinct. This hybrid zoo is a new tourist attraction in Kuantan and Pahang. In particular, this mini zoo area has an attractive landscape and is very suitable for recreational activities while looking at the animals on display.

- SUNGAI LEMBING

Sungai Lembing is an old mining town, located 45 km on the north west of Kuantan. Once, it had the largest tin deposit after Bolivia and also well known for its longest and deepest underground tin mine in the world. Sungai Lembing was the richest town in Pahang state, known as the El Dorado of the East. The history of tin mine activity has left its mark that is worth protecting. For this reason, the main attraction is the restoration of the tin mine tunnel. Kuantan has made big effort to conserve, preserve and revitalise precious historic place, Sungai Lembing. The mine provides visitors with the history of tin mining through interactive and virtual reality experience. They can feel the thrill of going inside underground tunnel and seeing how the miners work. The 1.2 km footpath tunnel offers various attractions including Queen Shaft, A Million Holes, souvenirs shop, mannequins display, simulator and an exhibition hall while the Bell Henning Garden showcases miners’ assembly point, supervisors’ office, mining ponds and steam locomotives railway.

Bazar Serambi Teruntum in Tanjung Lumpur offers a variety of outlets selling handicrafts including batik, wood carvings, pottery and songket as well as locally sourced food products (IKS). There are also activity staged such as traditional dance, cooking demo, festival and local market.

In Kuantan there is a Royal Pahang Weaving Development Complex that processes and sells Pahang woven fabric. Pahang Royal Weaving is produced according to traditional methods and maintains the finesse of art, this luxurious classic clothing is also used by local and foreign fashion designers. Now this woven fabric is being used in official government events as baju kurung, baju melayu, shawl, sampin, as well as wedding clothes in line with the latest trends in modernisation.

- NATURAL BATIK VILLAGE

Natural Batik Village is a show factory and tourist attraction that produces Batik, a local garment made from silk and embellished with floral motifs. This fabric is one of Malaysia's most colourful textiles of traditional origin, deeply rooted in Malay culture. Located on two acres of land at Balok, the village allows visitors to witness the manufacturing process and shop for various Batik merchandise at its retail section. For an even better experience, there are Batik painting workshops open to public at a reasonable price, attracting school students, international tourists and corporate organisations. Open daily from 10 am - 7 pm, the village is located along the coastal road after Beserah facing the beach.

- KUANTAN ART STREET

The buildings have been given a new lease of life by 13 Pahang-born individuals, aged 26 to 52, working hard from December 2020 to February 2021 to complete 74 mural paintings of Kuantan identity. It is stretched for 500 metres. The most outstanding mural is 20 feet painting on the side of buildings, the Shoe Cobbler. It is blended nicely with the façade and the tower as the background. Branded shoes were widely famous during the heyday. The traditional cobblers repaired footwear and provided shoe polishing services in front of shops were once a common sight in Kuantan. Another genius integration of art and structure of the buildings is the Legend Dragon of Chini Lake. It is painted on 40 feet tall building with an outdoor spiral staircase, painted as part of the dragon’s body. The back lane that was previously dark and gloomy now transformed into a colorful and vibrant street.
