Kuantan City Council has won the Best Art and Culture Destination in the Malaysia Tourism Industry Award (MTIA) 2022. The award was presented to the Kuantan Mayor, The Honorable Dato’ Hamdan bin Hussin for rejuvenating the old town as Kuantan Cultural Lane. Another award is the Best Tourism Development Initiative for preserving and conserving a heritage site, a world-former tine mine known as The Living Museum of Sungai Lembing.

MTIA organized by the Malaysia Tourism Agency Association (MATA) and Santai Travel, supported by the Malaysia International Tourism Development Association (MiTDA) and strategic partners, the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC), is a noble effort to dignify the country’s tourism industry. This program involves tourism associations, operators, travel agencies, hoteliers, organizations, and individuals and injects new enthusiasm into the Malaysian community.
