Sashibi (Sashimi Bitung)

 

Since centuries ago, Bitung has become a haven for fishermen from Tonsea, Sangihe, Talaud, Minahasa, and Maluku, becoming a shelter for fishermen when a storm hits. This area on the east coast of the Sulwesi peninsula is very rich in marine products. Tuna is one of the biggest catches there. Besides being processed, tuna meat is also consumed raw, local people call it Bitung-style sashimi.
