2017 UEA Melaka Summit

 

The 2017 UEA Melaka Summit will be held at A’Famosa Resort Hotel in Alor Gajah, Melaka, Malaysia for 3 days from September 7 to 9. At this year’s summit, there will be discussions of global warming, green buildings, water resource management, zero energy buildings, urban forestry and agriculture, waste management, women and youth, low-carbon energy, overcoming environmental crisis and the roles of sustainable cities. 

 

At the opening ceremony taking place on September 7, the Co-Chairpersons of UEA will give opening addresses, while the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Governor of Melaka State are set to give congratulatory and welcome speeches. 

 

Zaini Bin Ujang will represent the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water of Malaysia at the summit, where he will give a keynote speech under the title, “Sustainable Era,” and Shih-Bin Lin, representing the Public Works Department of Taipei City, Taiwan, is set to give a speech under the title, “Toward Sustainable Water Management.” 

 

Also, a number of international organizations will co-host nine sub-meetings under the themes of green buildings, water resource management, zero energy buildings, urban forestry and agriculture, waste management, women and youth, and low-carbon energy over the course of two days. 

 

According to sources at the Melaka State Government, the mayors of 176 cities in 25 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americans and around 500 delegation members will attend the summit held under the slogan, “Green Cities, Sustainable Cities,” and it will be an opportunity to reaffirm that climate change response is an important international agenda. ​
